Benchmark Analytics, Inc. has divided its staff and facilities to best distribute its technical expertise and equipment into these departments: Radiochemistry, Inorganics, Microbiology, Metals, Organics, Dairy and Sample Administration. Each department has ample physical space and all appropriate, validated state of the art equipment for use by our well trained staff. We also have several on-site laboratories serving water treatment plants.
We perform testing on gas well drilling samples which include drinking water, well water, and waste fluids as well as solids.
Additionally we will perform GLP studies for product registrations under 40CFR160. We also test products for product certification and we will develop analytical methods to address your specific needs.
Department managers work closely with their chemists to accurately analyze all samples and conduct quality control to achieve the best possible turnaround times for all clients. Benchmark Analytics has a routine sample turnaround time of five business days. Rush analysis is available upon request. This rapid turnaround allows all Benchmark clients to make informed decisions in a timely manner. Some tests will take longer based on the analytical method requirements.
The radiochemistry department is certified under NELAC for analysis of gross alpha, gross beta, radium 226 and 228 as well as uranium. We also are certified to analyze for Radon and Tritium in drinking water. Benchmark Analytics, Inc. is also certified by the NJDEP (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection) to analyze for the 48 hour gross alpha test in drinking water in New Jersey.
Additionally, we perform RADIATION WIPE TESTING in our laboratory as part of radiation safety programs or for sealed source monitoring.
We test gas well samples for drilling companies and also for residential customers.
Inorganic Wet Chemistry is capable of analyzing the full range of inorganic parameters. A very wide variety of equipment is maintained by the chemists in order to perform titration, ion chromatography, electrode response, colorimetric & spectrophotometric, and gravimetric methods. Many parameters are also analyzed using our computerized automated analysis system.
The Microbiology department is dedicated to biological analysis and microbial and mold identification. Routine analyses include biological oxygen demand (BOD), total coliform, fecal coliform, standard plate count, and chlorine. Along with these standard tests, many specialized procedures are conducted under client specified conditions. Insurance claim investigation is one of our mold identification specialties.
The Organic Chemistry department does a wide range of procedures, including pesticides, herbicides, volatile organic compounds, and many more. Analysis is performed on Gas Chromatographs, and GC/MS. Our Purge and Trap technology achieves detection of 0.5 ppm for VOC analysis. Contact us with your specific needs. Insurance claim investigation is one of our organic analytical specialties.
Very low levels of trace metals can be detected by our state of the art instrumentation in metals analysis. Calibrated instruments include ICP-MS, ICP-OES, Flame AA, Graphite Furnace AA and FIMS analyses. Mercury analysis is performed using the Cold Vapor AA method. The Metals department analyzes many sample matrixes such as water, wastewater, soil, and sludges. Our digestion techniques can address other sample matrices as well. Contact us with your specific needs.
The Dairy department is certified in the testing of dairy products by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Agriculture. Common sampling and testing is performed on frozen deserts, yogurt, ice milk, milkshakes, and ice cream. Analysis is performed for total coliform and standard plate count.
Analysis of fine chemicals and specialty chemicals result in a certificate of analysis for our customers.
Control of all incoming samples, reports, and supplies is the responsibility of the Sample Administration department. Sample Administration has multiple samplers for onsite collection; as well as a fleet of company cars and drivers to pick-up and transport samples. Samples are either collected by sampling personnel or are shipped to the offices. These samples are logged into our Laboratory Information Management System for each testing parameter and then distributed to the appropriate department. When all analyses of a sample are complete the Sample Administration staff generates a report form which is reviewed and distributed.

Benchmarks Laboratory Support System is a program designed to help existing captive environmental laboratories achieve Quality Control excellence using the same policies that have earned Benchmark its reputation as a leader in the environmental testing sector. The system is based on a program of documented procedures and policies, including SOPs, reagent preparation sheets, bench data sheets, computer programs, and training guides. The system provides the quality control framework to prepare a facility for accreditation under programs such as NELAP. Benchmark provides the paperwork, on-site training, technical support and follow-up performance evaluation samples. Programs are designed to meet the individual client needs.
Benchmark has conducted many projects under Good Laboratory Practices requirements in support of product registrations. These projects have included stability studies, method validations, microbiological projects and chemical quantitation. Prospective clients are welcome to conduct a pre-project audit.
We test products and generate a certificate of analysis for our customer. We will use customer supplied analytical methods, or published methods. We will also do methods development where there is no suitable analytical method available. Contact us and discuss your needs .
We have expertise in providing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) audits and quality assurance support to meet your needs.
